During my school years, very few teachers left an impression on me, such as our class VIII teacher, Mridhu Marwah Mam. Perhaps that was her first or second year of joining the school ( I am not sure). But my first interaction with her was at a school assembly. I had crossed the line, and I was having a good laughter time with my friend after the prayer session, and I received a sort of welcoming slap. (Oh gosh)
She was the class teacher of perhaps the most notorious class (Varun Yadav) and simultaneously the batch of top achievers (Namit chugh, Piyush, Varun Panth(?), etc, etc) in school!!! What a unique combination! And to this lot, add students like Mohit Chawla, Saurabh Dabas, Nishant Trisal, Ashish Dalal, Shikhar Sharma, and others…
It would really put any teacher’s training and experience to a good test.
Our class inaugurated the yellow card system in school…I guess.
The best thing I liked about her was that she was not indifferent. I could see(though I realised later) that she cared and engaged with all of us at different times.
She didn’t come just to do a ‘job’; she seemed to really like what she was doing.
I received her affection and care on various occasions. She certainly had a lot of positive influence over me and had an impactful role in determining my (and others) students’ experience at school.
There is some propaganda going on in many countries(like Russia) where the government is promoting the systems for having complete online education, wherein students just watch online videos and learn the subject matter. While current school systems may have some (or many) flaws, but to replace the personal interaction of student-teacher with online videos..is perhaps the most unfortunate(and sucking) scenario. The foundation for any learning, either material or spiritual, is the relationship between the teacher and student. If that’s broken, it will do more harm than it would serve its purpose.
(Just a side thought that came to mind while remembering my experience)…
Thank you, Mam. I seek blessing to imbibe some of these qualities in my own life.
Hare Krishna.
